Growing up my first experience with music when I was a baby was a program called Kindermusik. Kindermusik is an early music education curriculum focused on the developmental milestones of young children through music, movement, and stories. I am teaching my own version of this class.
This class will be for infants through five years old with their parents. Each class will consist of singing, dancing, storytelling, and using props and small musical instruments throughout the class. The structure of each class will remain the same, with alternating songs and stories. Each song has a purpose to it that helps to teach something to the child. Using movement with music helps their brain to make connections and remember patterns faster. Integrating music from a young age also helps to foster music education as the child grows. Throughout the class we will use props and small instruments to help with connections. Some of the things we will use are boom whackers, scarfs, jingle bells, shakers, and small drums. In between class each week, I will give you some activities and resources that you can use with your children at home to reinforce what we do in the class.
Nashville does not have a Kindermusik program offered here. Eventually I would like to officially start up a Kindermusik program in Nashville. To do that, it will take time to get certified with their training courses and start up a studio. Kindermusik has different materials for each age level. I am offering a combined class for infants through five years old, using the overarching structure from the Kindermusik program with my own materials and twist to it. There are some free materials that we will be using throughout the class or at home.
